FCT641?
For industrial motion control, CMZ conceived and developed the FCT640 programmable PLC controller. It is a modular, compact, high-performance system based on CODESYS 3.5 with integrated I/O.
The FCT640 integrates a motion control solution into a single, compact technical device. The controller integrates all fieldbuses used in industry (EtherCAT, CANopen, ModbusTCP) and modular I/O units, both digital and analogue.
OPC UA was chosen as the communication protocol because of its function in relation to Industry 4.0 interoperability, which ensures full connectivity with other devices so that systems can be efficiently and securely networked with the outside world.
Other specifications include processor power, Ethernet, CAN and serial ports, memory capacity in excess of 1 GB and SD cards.
FCT Web server
To use CMZ’s FCT641 on Codesys, a Description File for the device is required. The file can be downloaded from the FC641 controller.
The FCT641 has three built-in Ethernet ports and the default configuration is as follows.
- Eth0:DHCP Client
- Eth1:192.168.1.10
- Eth2:192.168.2.10
To access the FCT641 Web Server, use the following URL

You will be prompted for UserName and Password.
This is Default Login information.
- Name : cfg
- Password : fct641
Done!We were able to Login to the FCT641 Web Server.
Device Information
In Device Information, information such as the firmware of the actual FCT641 can currently be checked.
Codesys Information
To download the FCT641 Device Description File, click Codesys Information.
Done!FCT641 Packages are Downloaded.
Installed License
The Codesys Information screen also shows the licences currently installed on the FCT641.
Network Setting
To configure the Ethernet interface of the FCT641, click Network Setting and configure it according to your application.
Install FCT641 Packages
Next, install the Codesys Packages for the FCT641. Run the Package that you have just downloaded from the FCT641 Web Server and select the Codesys Verison that you want to install.
Agree to the licence and proceed with Continue.

Create New Project
The last step is to check that the FCT641 packages have been installed: start CODESYS and create a new project using File>New Project.
Select Standard Project and proceed with OK.
Next, the screen changes to the Device selection screen.
Set FC641.
OK to create a new project.
Done!
Install ESI/GSDML/EDS
If you are setting up an EtherCAT/Profinet/EthernetIP network, click Tools>Device Repository.
Click on the Install button.
Select the File downloaded from the manufacturer.
Done!
Install Add-on(s)
In some cases the CODESYS package is missing, double-click on “Missing add-on(s)” under the CODESYS IDE.
CODESYS will now display the missing Package and click Install.
You will also be presented with the Package installation screen, agree to the licence and proceed with Continue.

Scan FCT641
Now click on Device to connect the Codesys IDE to the FC641.
Enter the IP address of the FC641 in Controller.
Press Enter to search.
Login
The last step is to Download the project to FC641: click on the Login button.
Proceed with Yes.
Finally, click the Play button to start Runtime.
Done!
